Jenny tells Avant Garde Photography all about her Ellingham Hall wedding …
We chose to get married at St Michaels and All Angels church in Felton, which is the church near my parents house as I wanted to be given away from my family home.
Our wedding reception was at Ellingham Hall because we loved that we would have the whole place for a long weekend and be able to tailor our wedding day to exactly what suited us. We had family and friends stay in the cottages and hall and had a fabulous time partying with them all weekend. The lovely thing is that because of our wedding all our friends and family get along really well which is great!
My dress was by Caroline Castigliano. My mum and I spent the day looking for dresses and this was the last I tried. I chose it because it was classic and made me feel like a bride.
After endless searching we found the bridesmaids dresses from Littlewoods. It was worth all the shopping trips as we ended up with something that suited everyone.
Richard got his suit from Reiss. We went shopping with his parents so his dad could help him choose the right fit.
During the service and as part of the speeches my sister, who is a professional singer, sang for us.
The Flowers were from Fern florists and were the biggest surprise of my day. They were delivered, beautifully presented in special boxes and looked so wonderful I nearly cried when I saw them.
The fantastic cake was made by Richard’s mum.
We had Chinese lanterns set off after the first dance which guests of all ages enjoyed.
For our honeymoon we went to Kenya on safari and to a small island on the coast called Lamu. We had such a wonderful wedding day we laughed the whole flight out remembering the day and swapping stories from the parts each other had missed.
We met our photograher at a wedding fair two years before our wedding. I really got on with him and this was the main reason I then booked him. My instinct was good too as on our wedding day Roger went about his work often unnoticed. He got the balance right of arty shots with good portraits of our nearest and dearest. We never felt as if our guests were waiting round endlessly for the photos to be done as he took a lot of natural shots too. The end product, a leather bound wedding album, is beautiful and really captures our day.
